What Rideau Is
Rideau AI is a secure, multi-model AI platform built for professionals and teams who need their data under Canadian law. One subscription gives you access to the latest models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and our own private models, all through a single interface with application-layer encryption, transparent pricing, and content safety guardrails.
Think of it as a private, encrypted bridge to the latest AI. We don't sell your data, show you ads, or train on your conversations.
Origin Story
I was building an AI platform for enterprises using the big AI platforms we all know, and my customers asked the same due diligence question I used to ask in their position:
"Where does all of my data go?"
The honest answer was US servers, run by US companies, under US law. For organizations that spent decades protecting their IP, "it's probably fine, everyone else is doing it" wasn't going to cut it. And they were right.
There was no Canadian alternative. No platform with access to the latest AI models and real data protection under Canadian law. So I built one.
The Name
The Rideau Canal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that runs through the heart of Ottawa. Originally built as a military defence route, it became a symbol of Canadian resilience and engineering. A secure channel through challenging terrain.
We chose the name because it captures what we're building: a secure channel between you and AI. Trustworthy, resilient, and built to last.
In French, "rideau" also means "curtain." Draw it, and what's behind it stays private.
Our logo represents that idea: channels converging through a single controlled point.
Canadian-Owned and Bootstrapped
Rideau AI is a Canadian-controlled private corporation (CCPC). Bootstrapped, profitable by design, and accountable to customers, not foreign investors.
We chose to build this way because the business model matters. When a company is funded by venture capital, the pressure to grow can override the commitment to privacy. When a company is funded by customers, the incentives stay aligned: make the product good enough that people pay for it.
Every design decision, from application-layer encryption to transparent capacity pricing to the explicit rejection of a free tier, flows from this principle. The product works because you pay for it. That's the whole model.
